Abelana Safari Camp reopens

The communal area of our luxurious safari camp where guests can witness stunning sunsets in the bush.

Milestone reopening of Abelana Safari Camp

It’s been a long time coming, but our Abelana Safari Camp is open for bookings again! This intimate camp has been idle since the start of the Covid pandemic so it is a milestone for our team to offer this truly exceptional and authentic safari experience to guests once again.

A unique location

Located in the south of our beautiful reserve, Abelana Safari Camp is nestled between dramatic, towering sandstone rockscapes and granite koppies. The best view by far is from the camp’s 100 square metre viewing deck on top of a huge outcrop, from where you can see forever and enjoy the most incredible sunsets.

A genuine safari experience

Abelana Safari Camp sleeps eight guests in four Meru-style tents, each with an ensuite shower.  This intimate camp features a well-appointed, tented lounge and dining area where guests can relax, eat, and connect with one another in a nostalgic bushveld setting reminiscent of a bygone era.

While escaping the rat race, guests also escape loadshedding when staying at Abelana Safari Camp. The camp is completely off-grid, with gas geysers providing hot water and a solar farm generating power 24/7. Find out more here

Encompassing wilderness adventures

Abelana Safari Camp offers guests the chance to have encompassing wilderness adventures.  Days begin with walking safaris led by our trained guides, giving nature lovers an opportunity to get close to the fauna and flora that inhabit this exquisite part of our reserve. Guests learn all about Abelana’s fascinating ecosystem, its geology and the flora and fauna that inhabit our 15 000-hectare reserve while breathing-in crisp morning air.

Sunset game drives

Days are topped with afternoon game drives, with a stop for drinks and snacks in the bush to watch the sunset. Prime game-spotting opportunities and temperate weather are the highlights of the Autumn season. Guests are often treated to encounters with elephants, rhinos, leopards, lions, and buffalo while walking in the bush. It’s a treat for bird lovers too, with an impressive cast of endemic bird species inhabiting the areas, including the African fish eagle, peregrine falcon, and bat hawk.

It’s food for the soul

Three mouth-watering meals are served daily, created by a dedicated chef and enjoyed in the large, tented mess and lounge area or under the African night sky around a boma fire. This makes dining at Abelana Safari Camp a sensory experience as guests watch life unfold outside.

No restrictions

On our private reserve, walking trails, off-road safaris and night drives with our trained field guides are possible. During the day, you could see big cats sleeping or lazing in the sun while they digest the previous night’s prey. At night, they are active, and you might catch them on a hunt.

It’s personal

With just two lodges set on 15 000 hectares of private reserve, adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park, we offer an exclusive experience that is easily tailored to suit guests’ preferences. At this time of year, you could easily be in the only vehicle exploring our reserve at any given time.

Prime game-spotting opportunities and temperate weather are the highlights of the upcoming winter season. For more information and to book a stay at Abelana Safari Camp, please visit our website  or contact us here or book direct by following clicking the button below.
