Trail Cameras

At Abelana we have a number of trail cameras situated in remote parts of the reserve. These are used for a variety of management purposes but also provide unique insights into the presence of a number of nocturnal species not always picked up by game drive vehicles.

See below some interesting photographs of unusual species including an aardvark, porcupine, hyena and a large male leopard not previously known to us, all taken in a remote part of the reserve.

Abelana arises

Six months ago, the January floods left their mark on Abelana. Today, we’re ready to share some good news.

Abelana River Lodge is almost fully restored. The reserve’s road network took serious damage, but our team has worked tirelessly to bring it back to a condition where guests can once again enjoy smooth, comfortable game drives across the property.
