Abelana Safari Camp is quickly becoming renowned for its amazing, 100 square metre viewing deck! Built atop a marvelous rocky outcrop at the rear of the camp, reached via an easy-to-negotiate timber stairway, the deck offers absolutely incredible views out over Abelana Game Reserve and is the perfect place to sit back, relax with a drink or two and take in the astounding landscapes and scenery.

With comfortable loungers positioned to afford optimum sunbathing opportunities and large umbrellas offering shade, there is also an outdoor shower for cooling off when things get a little on the warm side, as well as regular service from our helpful staff who are on hand to keep your drinks glasses full at all times.

Birding and game watching from the deck is also a treat as it is positioned high enough to avoid alarming the wildlife on the open plain below which come to take advantage of one of the reserve’s many dams. You’ll often spot impala, warthog and baboon foraging, and of course the ubiquitous rock hyrax are regular visitors.

And if you choose not to take advantage of our daily afternoon game drives, the deck is absolutely the best place to be come sundowner time, where you can toast the setting of the African sun in absolute style.
